Here is my guide to the perfect Mallorca photo shoot. A photo shoot on Mallorca is more than just an appointment with a camera. It is an experience full of emotions and memories. Good preparation is the key to making your shoot an unforgettable moment. In this guide you will find out how to prepare optimally for your Mallorca photo shoot, whether you are a model, a family or a couple.

Choosing the Right Outfits

Colour choice and style: Choose clothing in harmonious tones that complement the surroundings. Soft pastels or earthy tones work especially well on the beach and in nature. Avoid loud patterns that might distract from the subject. White is always a good choice, but be careful – every mark shows immediately. My most important tip, however, is that you must feel comfortable in your outfit and like how you look in it.

Plan Multiple Looks

Plan at least two different outfits. This creates a varied series of images within a single session. Bring light change of clothes with you and pay attention to matching shoes. From my Shooting M package onwards, a change of outfit is possible.

Styling Tips for Hair and Make-Up

Natural look: A natural look enhances your radiance. Go for light foundation and define eyes and lips subtly. Give the skin a gentle glow with a little highlighter. But be careful – not too much. And keep in mind that if your skin is moisturised, sand will stick to it.

Weather and Freshness

Mallorca can be sunny and windy. Bring hairspray or a light serum to tame flyaway strands. Pack a small make-up bag for touch-ups if needed. Stylish hats or scarves also help with flyaway hair.

Schedule and Punctuality

Best times of day: The golden light shortly after sunrise and before sunset produces soft shadows and warm colours. Therefore arrange your shoot for the early morning hours or the evening. Sunlight from the front creates harsh shadows and lots of contrast; sunlight from behind creates soft shadows and a beautiful mood.

Build in Buffer Time

Allow enough time for the journey, finding parking and getting styled. That way you arrive relaxed and can start in a great mood straight away. If you have young children, keep them excited about something fun during the drive.

Communication with the Photographer

Wishes and ideas: Write to the photographer in advance about which shots are especially important to you. Whether romantic couple photos on the beach or elegant portraits in the old town of Palma – clear agreements create confidence.

Create a Mood Board

Compile a collection of image examples you like. This allows the photographer to assess your style better and suggest suitable locations. And very importantly – all participants should see these inspiration images in advance so they can prepare for them.

Choosing the Location

Popular spots are often crowded. Trust the photographer's recommendations – they usually know the quieter coves and hidden lanes. This saves time and produces authentic images. Switch between sandy beach, rocky fields and historic walls. This creates a varied set of images. Views across the landscape or towards the sea.

What to Bring on the Day of the Shoot

Most importantly, bring a good mood for everyone involved and do not carry too much. If you have children, try to build up excitement by focusing on something fun for them, like "We are going to take beautiful photos that we can give to Grandma" – but you will certainly think of more things to create enthusiasm. And now my last very special tip: if you have wristbands from your hotel, take them off beforehand – these bands will not be removed in the editing. For see-through outfits always cut out the labels first so they are not visible in the photos. I recommend this for t-shirts and dresses too, wherever labels can easily show. Whether an Apple Watch at a beach shoot or a hair tie on your wrist looks great is for each person to decide – but personally I would not wear them.
